CMO hires calibrated against what your marketing actually has to do.
We place CMO, VP Marketing, and Head of Growth leaders across B2B SaaS, consumer, and operator businesses. Every search is calibrated against a specific marketing thesis — growth-first, brand-first, or enterprise-ABM — not a generic CMO template.
The cmo market — the honest version.
CMO has the widest scope variance of any senior role. A consumer brand CMO has almost nothing in common with a B2B ABM CMO, which has almost nothing in common with a performance-marketing-led growth CMO. The wrong placement is always obvious within 6 months; the right placement compounds for years. We calibrate explicitly against what your marketing function is being asked to do right now, what it will be asked to do in 18 months, and the team profile that fits that trajectory.
What we actually screen for.
Every cmo candidate goes through a structured technical screen conducted by an ex-engineer recruiter before you see their profile.
- Scope fit — growth-native, brand-native, ABM-native, or PLG-native; not marketed as interchangeable
- Revenue accountability — have they carried a pipeline or ARR number, or only brand metrics
- Team building — named marketers they hired who became leaders, and how the team was structured
- Agency vs in-house judgment — when to buy, when to build, scale of external spend they've managed
- CEO partnership — how they've handled creative disagreement with a founder, documented wins
- Category positioning — whether they've shaped a category narrative, or only executed within one

CMO hiring — questions we hear.
Yes, explicitly. Growth leaders and brand leaders have different screens, different shortlists, and often different compensation norms. We don't pitch a growth-native CMO candidate at a brand-first role — or vice versa — because the mismatch will surface inside 6 months.
