Every cmo candidate goes through a structured technical screen conducted by an ex-engineer recruiter before you see their profile.

  • Scope fit — growth-native, brand-native, ABM-native, or PLG-native; not marketed as interchangeable
  • Revenue accountability — have they carried a pipeline or ARR number, or only brand metrics
  • Team building — named marketers they hired who became leaders, and how the team was structured
  • Agency vs in-house judgment — when to buy, when to build, scale of external spend they've managed
  • CEO partnership — how they've handled creative disagreement with a founder, documented wins
  • Category positioning — whether they've shaped a category narrative, or only executed within one

    Intake + thesis alignment

    Intake with CEO and / or board. We write the marketing thesis before we source.

  2. Days 3–18

    Targeted sourcing

    Outreach specifically to candidates whose last role matches your thesis. 30–60 mapped candidates, 15–25 conversations.

  3. Days 18–28

    Shortlist + assessments

    4–5 candidates with written competency assessments and portfolio of work (decks, campaigns, positioning docs they authored).

  4. Days 28–42

    Interviews + offer

    Working session with a panel of GTM and product partners, not just interview loops.
